A 26-year-old student of the Yaba College of Technology, Lagos, Udochukwu Prisca Nneka, is appealing to well-meaning Nigerians for financial assistance to raise N30 million to enable her to undergo a kidney transplant.
Prisca, who hails from Abia State, is currently battling kidney failure and has been unable to continue her Higher National Diploma (HND) programme due to her deteriorating health.
Narrating her ordeal through the Gifting Volunteer Network, a non-governmental organisation supporting patients with critical health needs, she explained that her illness began in December 2024 with swelling in her legs and stomach.
“I was advised to go for tests, and the results from Gbagada General Hospital showed that both of my kidneys were damaged,” she said emotionally.
“I dreamt of becoming an engineer, but now I just want to live.”
Prisca, whose condition has left her unable to work or attend school, said her only chance of survival is a kidney transplant. The procedure, however, costs N30 million — a sum far beyond the reach of her family.
Appealing on her behalf, a close friend, Faith Joseph, called on kind-hearted Nigerians to help save Prisca’s life.
“She can’t go to school or do anything. We are pleading with the public to help us give Prisca a second chance,” she said.
Faith noted that Prisca’s condition had worsened, and dialysis treatments had become increasingly difficult to sustain due to financial constraints.
“She’s a bright young woman with big dreams, but this sickness has brought everything to a halt. With your help, we can bring back her smile and future.”
The Gifting Volunteer Network also joined the appeal, urging Nigerians and corporate organisations to come to Prisca’s aid by donating toward her surgery.
