…he’s best candidate for Udu kingship, say Udu indigenes in US
All 32 communities in Udu Kingdom, Udu local government area of Delta state, have pledged full support for the candidacy of Engr Mike Orugbo, Chairman of O-Secul Nigeria Ltd, as the Ovie-designate of Udu Kingdom, describing him as the best person to occupy the vacant stool of the Ovie of Udu Kingdom.
In a similar development, indigenes of Udu in the United States of America have expressed total support for the endorsement of Engr Mike Orugbo by the Okporua Ruling House as the next King, describing the development as renewed hope for a brighter future for the Kingdom.
The Forum of Presidents of the 32 Udu Communities, led by Engr John Oghenevwegba Uviejitobor, made their stand known during a solidarity visit to Engr Mike Orugbo on Saturday, with the Forum noting that it was an honour to have Engr Mike Orugbo as the next King of Udu Kingdom, hailing the choice of the Okporua Ruling House as the best thing to happen to Udu in recent times.
Addressing the house during the visit, Engr Uviejitobor declared that the 32 Udu communities have resolved to stand fully by Engr Orugbo on his journey to the throne, stressing that they strongly believe he was the fit and proper person to stimulate the growth and development of Udu Kingdom in the present dispensation.
He appealed to Orugbo never to change his mind having accepted the offer of the Okporua people to serve Udu as King, describing the noise from some quarters in the guise of aspirations by some other qualified Okporua persons as the normal scramble for what is valued and highly priced among a people.
The Chairman of the community Presidents urged Engr Mike Orugbo to be focused on the goal as all Udu sons and daughters from within and outside Nigeria are upbeat having him as the next King and that in the next few weeks, the search would be over and the crown would be placed on his head as the Ovie of Udu Kingdom.
In his response, Engr Mike Orugbo assured the entire Udu people of his commitment to the course of a greater Udu Kingdom and that having placed his hands on the plow, there was no going back.
He thanked the Udu communities’ presidents for the confidence reposed in him, stressing that by the grace and mercies of God, he will not fail them. He also assured that God does not start a beautiful thing that would not be completed and that since the hands of God was in the project, everything will end in praise.
The delegation of the Forum included Engr John Uviejitobor, President of Orhuwhorun Community and Chairman of the Forum of Community Presidents, Barr Moses Uchere, President, Oghior Community and Vice Chairman of the Forum; Comrade Ufuoma Ogheneovo Jonathan, President of Owhrode and Secretary of the Forum, Comrade Dele Okuku, President of Ovwian Community and Treasurer of the Forum; Engr Lucky Chughiefe, President of Ubogo Community and Spokesman of the Forum, Peterson Orugbo, President, Ogbe-Udu Community, Mr Blessing Akpoyibo, President, Ukpiovwin Community, Alfred Omoiroro, President, Okolor-Uburhie and Mr Philip Igben, President, Ukperheren Community among others.
Those with Engr Mike Orugbo to receive the guests include Chief Eddie Ono-Sorhue, Engr Alex Neyin, Chief Esiso Akunuhor, Hon Justice Iyasere, Barr Benefit Orugbo among others.
Meanwhile, Udu indigenes in the United States of America have expressed total support for Engr Mike Orugbo as the next Ovie of Udu Kingdom, describing him as a man raised for a time like this.
In a statement by Nathaniel Bakpa, the Udu Indigenes in the USA described the choice of Engr Mike Orugbo by Udu people as a remarkable milestone and a significant turning point in the collective journey of the Udu people towards unity, development and cultural renaissance.
‘’As a seasoned technocrat and a man of wisdom, his wealth of experience in both public and private spheres inspires great hope and confidence in the future of Udu Kingdom.
‘’For us in the diaspora, particularly here in the United States of America, this moment is symbolic’’, the statement said, urging all Udu people to give full support towards ensuring a smooth transition to the next stage of Udu traditional leadership, noting that the emergence of Engr Mike Orugbo as Ovie designate has filled everybody with a pride and renewed hope for a brighter future.
