The honourable member representing Surulere 1 at the House of Representatives has charged his constituents to embrace healthy living via adequate exercise.
He advised this at the second edition of the Fitness with FKL Programme, a monthly exercise session to promote healthy living among residents of the Surulere Local Government, held at Sam Shonibare Sport Centre, Surulere.
The session featured activities such as aerobics, football, basketball and others.
Speaking during the session, Rep. Laguda noted the initiative is a means of promoting and seeing to the wellbeing of the constituents of Surulere.
In his words, he said, “Today, we gathered here for the second edition of the Fitness with FKL after the Ramadan/Lent break. The main idea behind the initiative is solely to promote healthy living through exercise among our constituents.
“With about 300 constituents in attendance, improvements from the last edition’s 120 attendees, this is a clear indication of the importance Surulerians attach to their wellbeing and we remain optimistic that the number would keep growing and our aim would be achieved.
“The session has attracted people from different walks of life within the constituency. We have professionals, youths, politicians, and the old, with over 10 adults who are above 70, and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).
The event was also attended by the first woman to represent Nigeria at the World Table Tennis in 1969 in the old West Germany, Mrs. Balikis Popoola.
