…as Dominion City Prepares for Annual Camp Meeting
By Olayinka Latona
Resident Pastor of Dominion City Church, Lagos Headquarters, Pastor Shola Olapade, has expressed deep concern over the rising rate of drug abuse among teenagers, youths, and even adults in Nigeria. He called on parents, schools, and religious institutions to step up efforts to combat the alarming trend.
Speaking at a press conference to announce the church’s 2025 camp meeting, scheduled to hold from April 17 to 21 at Golden Heart Place, Ajah, Lagos, Pastor Olapade described drug abuse as a growing menace that poses a grave threat to the nation’s future.
Themed “Revival & Multiplication,” the five-day event will bring together over 15,000 worshippers onsite, with sessions aimed at spiritual revival, healing, and leadership empowerment.
Joined by the Resident Pastor of Dominion City Church, Ajah, Pastor Chuks Anochie, Pastor Olapade emphasized that drug addiction is robbing many young people of their destinies, and only a united front can curb the crisis.
“We want to admonish parents, schools, and everyone involved in the lives of young people to be vigilant. We must guard this precious heritage God has given us,” he urged.
“Drug is a killer. Bad habits and addictions are not only destroying lives but are also lowering life expectancy. The number of teenagers in psychiatric hospitals and rehabilitation centres is alarming.”
Pastor Olapade noted that the camp meeting would be led by Dr. David Ogbueli, Senior Pastor of Dominion City Worldwide and President of the Dominion Leadership Institute. The event will include worship experiences, a Good Friday Healing and Miracle Night, and special training sessions for ministers, professionals, entrepreneurs, social workers, and educators.
“We don’t just gather people for spiritual upliftment,” he said. “We also empower them with values and principles that make them agents of change. A nation’s greatest asset is its people. When we invest in them spiritually, emotionally, and intellectually, we’re building a stronger society.”
He described the camp meeting as the church’s “annual convocation,” and an opportunity for revival, especially among young people.
“A nation cannot rise beyond the quality of its human capital. And a person cannot rise beyond the depth of their encounter with God. This is an opportunity for men, women, youths, and teenagers to seek God’s face and experience transformation,” he added.
The event will feature renowned speakers including Apostle Michael Orokpo, Rev. Samson Ajetunmobi, Dr. Ferdinand Nweke, and Pastor Rendy Mitchell. Music ministrations will be led by Sunmisola Agbebi-Okeleye, David Nkennor, GUC, Ebuka Songs, the Dominion City Angels, and others.
Pastor Olapade also announced that free transportation would be provided to facilitate access to the programme.
