Aliyu Abdulkareem, a multimedia journalist and SEO editor with the Nigerian Tribune Digital Newspaper, has been inducted as a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
Abdulkareem, who also holds expertise in data science and printing, was inducted into the professional body alongside 514 others in a ceremony held recently at Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK).
His induction into the NIPR reflects his commitment to shaping narratives through digital storytelling, search engine optimization, and public engagement strategies that influence public perception.
Speaking at the event, NIPR President Dr Ike Neliaku charged the inductees to be change drivers in society, emphasising the role of public relations in leadership and development.
Neliaku urged the inductees to leverage their licences as certified public relations professionals to provide quality leadership and promote Nigeria’s positive image.
“Today you are being licensed as effective communicators who will give Nigeria qualitative leadership wherever you find yourself.
“We are starting early to groom you, mold you, and build you as that successful generation of powerful leaders for this nation. Public relations is very critical to leadership,” he said.
Speaking to the 238 inductees in attendance and the 277 new members inducted virtually, he stressed the crucial role of public relations in development.
He pointed out that effective communicators are the ones who drive development, urging them to fully utilise their skills to foster meaningful progress in any setting.
“As young leaders, please bear in mind that you have become development advocates, development drivers, who will find out what the citizens want and meet their needs in rendering development,” he said.
He further urged them to use public relations as a tool for nation-building and to see themselves as true patriots of Nigeria.
“Do not join those that use their mouths to destroy our nation. Our nation is going through challenges, but this is the only nation we have on earth. Don’t join those who use their mouths to run our nation down,” he stressed.
As an SEO specialist and journalist, Abdulkareem’s induction into the NIPR positions him at the intersection of digital media, strategic communication, and public relations. His expertise in optimizing online content for visibility and engagement will play a crucial role in shaping public discourse and enhancing the digital presence of organizations.
