In the spirit of Ramadan, a time of compassion, generosity and community support, the Soledotun Abdulkarim-Yusuf Foundation, SAF, for the Empowerment of the Boy Child has extended a helping hand to widows who are raising male children.

Recognizing the financial struggles of single mothers and widows in ensuring the well-being of the boy child, the foundation has provided financial support to some widows with food packs to the less privileged. This initiative was done in collaboration with La Dots Partycity

Speaking during the empowerment, founder of the foundation, Hajja Soledotun Abdulkarim-Yusuf,  emphasized the foundation’s commitment to empowering families and supporting communities, especially in times of need.

According to her, “Each widow received a N10,000 cheque, inclusive of N2,000 cash for transportation, to ease their financial burdens. The empowerment was carried out in two locations namely Serendipity House Widows Foundation, Maryland, Lagos, where six widows received their cheques and Soledotun Abdulkarim-Yusuf Foundation office in Ogba, Ikeja, Lagos, where four widows were presented with their cheques.

“Understanding that financial stability plays a crucial role in proper child upbringing, this initiative aims to ensure that widowed mothers have the necessary support to nurture and guide the boy child effectively.”

Additionally, the foundation distributed 50 food packs to underprivileged individuals in Ogba, Alausa and Maryland axis, ensuring they have essential food supplies during the holy month of Ramadan

She said: “We recognise that widows raising male children often face financial and emotional challenges. By empowering them, we are indirectly securing a better future for the boy child. Ramadan is a time for giving, and we are committed to making a meaningful impact in the lives of those who need it the most.”
