Fintech company PalmPay has partnered with AfriGO to accelerate financial inclusion and enhance Nigeria’s digital payment ecosystem.
This strategic collaboration will see PalmPay issue over five million AfriGO cards, expanding access to secure and seamless digital transactions for millions of Nigerians.
The AfriGO card, powered by Afrigopay Financial Services Limited (a subsidiary of the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System, NIBSS), is a homegrown payment solution designed to strengthen financial sovereignty. By integrating AfriGO’s infrastructure, PalmPay is offering more tailored payment solutions that cater specifically to Nigeria’s unique market needs.
PalmPay’s commitment to distributing five million AfriGO cards reflects its mission to bridge the financial divide, particularly for the unbanked and underserved populations. The card, built on EMVCo standards, features secure tokenization and contactless payment capabilities, ensuring a safe and frictionless user experience within PalmPay’s robust digital ecosystem.
Speaking on the partnership, Managing Director of PalmPay Nigeria, Chika Nwosu, stated: “At PalmPay, we prioritize innovation and inclusivity in financial services. Our collaboration with AfriGO will provide Nigerians with cost-effective, secure, and locally relevant payment options, reinforcing our commitment to expanding financial accessibility.”
Similarly, Ebehijie Momoh, Managing Director/CEO of Afrigopay Financial Services Limited, AFSL, remarked: “We are excited to partner with PalmPay in revolutionizing financial services. Together, we will enhance digital payment access, particularly in underserved areas, fostering financial inclusion and strengthening Nigeria’s digital economy.”
AfriGO cards will empower users with seamless transaction capabilities, including online and in-store payments, ATM withdrawals, money transfers, and cashless transactions via agent POS terminals. Additionally, the AfriGO Instant Settlement service ensures merchants and agents benefit from immediate transaction processing, improving cash flow and reducing financial risk.
This partnership marks a significant step toward a more inclusive and digitized Nigerian economy, fostering financial empowerment and broader economic growth.
