Owerri – The Ebuka Amobi Foundation has flagged off project back to school targeting 100 out of school children in Imo state.

The project Manager, Ambassador Kennedy Asuzu, disclosed this to newsmen in Owerri on Tuesday.

According to Asusu the project was inline with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, SDG, number 4, to achieve quality education.

He mentioned that it was the believe of the organization that “every child should have access to education.”

The Manager said the project which was flagged off on the 1st of March, has commenced with registration still ongoing and would last for 2 months.

According to him, “The foundation has flagged off 2nd edition of the education empowerment initiative project aimed at sending back hundreds of out of school children back to school in imo State.

“We flagged off on the 1st of March. The registration process is going to run for 2 months.

“We have received close to 300 applications since the project was flagged off, but only 100 students will be given scholarships in the first phase .Students will be provided with scholarships, school bags, sandals, exercise, and textbook books.

“we also identified that due to economic hardship, alot of students have dropped out of school, this is one of the reasons we have embarked on this education empowerment project.”

“As a foundation, we believe that every child should have access to education.
As part of the education empowerment initiative projects of the foundation, which also aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, SDG, with Focus on ,SDG, 4 which is quality education, we are committed to ensuring we help in addressing the challenges of this goal in Africa,” he said.
