
The Union of Udu Communities, the apex leadership organs of all 32 traditional Udu communities, Udu Local Government Area of Delta state has postponed her general elections earlier scheduled for March 8 to Saturday March 15, 2025 to allow for more consultations and accommodate all interest groups in Udu without compromising the integrity of the elections.
Rising from an emergency meeting of the Union on Wednesday, President General of the Union of Udu Communities, Hon Chief Peter Okagbare Uviejitobor explained that all activities pertaining the elections have been extended by one week with sales of forms now to continue from Wednesday February 12th to Tuesday, February 18th, 2025 while all forms must be returned to the office latest Wednesday February 19, 2025.
According to the president general who is also the Delta state commissioner for Oil and Gas, screening of aspirants will be held on Thursday February 20 and Friday February 21, 2025 while the appeal panel will sit on Saturday, February 22, 2025.
He added that shortly after the publication of names of successful candidates on Monday February 24th, campaigns by the candidates will be held from Wednesday, February 26 to Thursday, March 13, 2025 after all organs and branches of the UUC may have submitted names of prospective delegates to the electoral umpire on Tuesday February 25, 2025.
Olorogun Uviejitobor, a two terms member of the Delta State House of Assembly disclosed further that the elections will now hold on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at the Ovie Palace Hall, Otor-Udu, headquarters of the Udu people.
He appealed to all aspirants and intending aspirants to various positions to follow the reviewed timetable while also reassuring all Udu sons and daughters of the commitment of the UUC Executive to a transparently free and fair exercise for the peace and unity of Udu Kingdom.
