Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has outlined comprehensive infrastructure development plans for Orumba South Local Government Area, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to economic growth, improved mobility, and enhanced security.

Speaking during a tour of the area, Governor Soludo emphasized that the initiative aligns with his broader vision to drive sustainable development and uplift communities across the state.

As part of the plan, the governor announced the construction of a critical road connecting St. Augustine Rest Assured Hotel to Community High School and the Umunze Ultra-Modern Market. The project aims to improve mobility for residents and visitors, seamlessly linking Umunze to the Umuchu bypass road.

Despite security challenges, Soludo urged Ndị Igbo to stay connected to their roots and work collectively toward peace and progress.

“Despite the security issues we face, the spirit of the community remains strong. Let us unite as one people and resist the tide of insecurity. The government is doing its part, but lasting peace requires the cooperation and vigilance of the entire community,” he stated.

He also warned that individuals engaged in criminal activities would face the full weight of the law if they refused to turn a new leaf.

Beyond infrastructure and security, the governor unveiled ambitious plans to develop Owerre-Ezukalla Waterfall and Cave, along with the renowned Ogbunike Cave, to promote tourism, create jobs, and stimulate economic growth in the region.

During his tour, he visited Ogbunka and Owerre-Ezukalla, addressing a large gathering at Nkwo Umunze, where community members expressed gratitude for his leadership.

The Mayor of Orumba South, Mr. Shaedack Azubuike, commended the governor’s relentless efforts in transforming the region, while Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Foster Ihejiofor, praised his leadership for bringing hope and setting a new standard for development.

Other community leaders, including Chief Oliver Okolo (President General of Owerre-Ezukalla), Sir Ezekiel Anyazo (President General of Umunze), and Sir Timothy Ikedinma, lauded the governor’s initiatives and pledged their support for further development efforts. They also highlighted pressing community needs and called for continued collaboration with the state government.

Governor Soludo was accompanied by former Deputy Governor Chief Emeka Sibudu, Chief of Staff Ernest Ezeajughi, Special Adviser on Markets, Chief Evarist Uba, Chairman of the Anambra Urban Regeneration Council, Architect Mike Okonkwo, traditional rulers, and other key stakeholders.
