ABUJA – The President, Council of Topfaith University Students, David Antia, has described Professor Uduak Aniesua Essiett as a distinguished expert in Plant Taxonomy, Anatomy, and Biosystematics, ahead of her upcoming 110th inaugural lecture at the University of Uyo.

This event is particularly significant, as she will be the first inaugural lecturer in the Department of Botany and Ecological Studies under the new Faculty of Biological Sciences and only the second female inaugural lecturer in the department’s history.

Her lecture, titled ‘Plant Identifier, Taxonomic Studies: Applications and Challenges,’ promises to enrich both the academic community and the public.

A statement issued by Antia highlighted the importance of this occasion in promoting knowledge sharing and inspiring future generations.

Professor Essiett earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Botany from Obafemi Awolowo University, followed by a Master’s and PhD in related fields. She has authored over 57 scholarly articles and received numerous accolades throughout her career.

Antia further explained that the upcoming lecture underscores the vital role of plant taxonomy and biosystematics in scientific research and environmental conservation. The University of Uyo community is eagerly anticipating this landmark event.

He stated, “Knowledge is inextricably linked to the fabric of society and draws its essence from the collective experiences and observations of humanity.
