
Olubadan’s chief bestows chieftaincy title on Oluyole LG boss

The Ekerin Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Hamidu Ajibade, has installed the Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Akeem Olatunji, as the Asiwaju of Oluyole.
The ceremony, held yesterday, was attended by numerous dignitaries, including Oyo State deputy governor, Adebayo Lawal.
The event, which drew a significant crowd, including past and present members of the federal and state houses of representatives, various government officials, and traditional rulers, was seen as a testament to Olatunji’s dedication to service and leadership in various sectors, particularly in grassroots development.
In his remarks, deputy governor Lawal commended Olatunji for his transformative efforts in the local government, particularly in enhancing market infrastructure and improving the living standards of residents.
“Akeem Olatunji has truly transformed our local government with his visionary leadership, particularly in enhancing market infrastructure.”

While performing the installation rites, Oba Ajibade described Olatunji as a significant figure in Ibadanland, highlighting his strong relationship with the traditional institution and the goodwill he enjoys among the community.

Many speakers at the ceremony also emphasised that the occasion marked a historic moment for the local government, as it was the first time the entire Oluyole Council of Traditional Rulers collectively nominated an individual for the prestigious title.
In their respective comments, community leaders and members expressed their support for Olatunji’s leadership, noting his contributions to education, healthcare, and peace initiatives.
They underscored the importance of his role in promoting unity among diverse religious and ethnic groups within Oluyole.
In his acceptance speech, Olatunji expressed gratitude for the honour and reaffirmed his dedication to the people of Oluyole.
He said: “I am deeply grateful for this honor and the trust placed in me by the Oluyole community. This title is not just a personal achievement; it is a commitment to serve the people of Oluyole with integrity and passion.”
