Kaduna APC’s rally crowd ‘rented,’ claims Senator Usman

By Luminous Jannamike

ABUJA – Senator Lawal Adamu Usman, representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, has criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State, alleging that their recent rally was attended by a “rented crowd.”

This remark was made in response to the APC’s event at Murtala Square, where they welcomed new members to the party.

In a statement on Facebook, Usman challenged the APC to demonstrate its popularity by conducting elections in at least one ward within the state.

He accused the party of misleading Nigerians by gathering individuals who were not genuinely supportive, questioning the authenticity of their claims of widespread backing.

According to him, “APC is like Papalolo in Kaduna State. If you truly knew you had the support of your ‘rented crowd’ why didn’t you allow the conduct of election in at least one ward within the State. Even the Governor could not cast his vote at his polling station during the time.”

The rally was attended by Governor Uba Sani, who assured new members of equal rights and privileges within the party. However, the event occurred against a backdrop of internal unrest within the APC, particularly following remarks by former Governor Nasir El-Rufai.

El-Rufai criticized the current administration for its governance style, calling it a “national emergency,” and urged a coalition of opposition parties to challenge the APC in the upcoming 2027 elections.

These tensions within the APC, along with Usman’s accusations, highlight significant challenges the party faces as Nigeria approaches future electoral contests.
