…Says Party Leaders Must Unite

BURUTU— The Minority Whip of the Delta State House of Assembly and lawmaker representing Burutu Constituency 1, Hon. Alapala Anthony Ebitonmo, has called on chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at both the national and state levels to unite for a stronger and more formidable party in Delta State.

Hon. Ebitonmo made this appeal during a Thank You visit by former Deputy Senate President and APC chieftain, Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege, to the Ijaw-populated Burutu Local Government Area of the state.

The lawmaker emphasized that the only path to success for the APC in Delta State was for party leaders to resolve internal disputes and work together in harmony.

“Only unity can bring about victory for our dear party, the APC. Without it, we cannot stand strong. The party’s leaders in the state must come together, discuss issues, and make amends where necessary,” Ebitonmo stated.

He also stressed the importance of recognizing the seven APC lawmakers in the Delta State House of Assembly as key figures in grassroots politics.

“If we really want to get it right, we must acknowledge that the seven lawmakers representing the party in the State Assembly are the pillars of APC at the grassroots level. We have been working tirelessly to build a stronger and more united party,” he added.

Hon. Ebitonmo highlighted the importance of tangible projects in the party’s campaign efforts, saying that grassroots politicians in the opposition must ensure that federal projects reach their constituencies.

“As opposition lawmakers, we are making concerted efforts to ensure that the federal presence is felt in our constituencies. We must campaign with tangible projects, and we are doing our best to facilitate federal projects in our areas,” he said.

He also expressed gratitude to his constituents for their continued support and vowed to deliver the dividends of democracy despite the challenges of being in the opposition.

Acknowledging the efforts of Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, Hon. Ebitonmo praised his administration’s commitment to inclusive development.

“Governor Oborevwori has been magnanimous. He has already asked us to submit proposals for our constituency projects, and I have done so,” he revealed.

He further disclosed that his first project under the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) was already ongoing in Gbekebor, and he was optimistic that more projects would be executed within the year.
