In a major push to tackle systemic poverty and uplift vulnerable groups, the General Overseer of Divine Palace Church International, Rev. Dr. Ifeanyi Maduekesi, has launched the Dr. Maxwell I. Maduekesi Foundation, a nonprofit aimed at providing education, healthcare, and economic empowerment for widows, orphans, and underprivileged women and children.

The foundation’s unveiling, which coincided with Maduekesi’s 45th birthday on Tuesday, February 25, marks the latest in his long-standing commitment to philanthropy and social impact, particularly in Festac, Amuwo-Odofin, Enugu, and surrounding communities.

At the launch event, Rev. Dr. Maduekesi emphasized the urgent need for structural interventions to break the cycle of poverty, stating:

“This initiative reflects my belief that every individual deserves access to a dignified life. We aim to create real, lasting change—not just offer charity. Our focus is on empowerment, ensuring that widows, orphans, and disadvantaged women and children receive the resources they need to build sustainable futures.”

A key component of the foundation’s strategy is educational scholarships for children from low-income families. The initiative will fund school fees, books, and other learning materials to prevent school dropouts due to financial constraints.

“Education is the foundation of a brighter future. Our goal is to remove financial barriers so that every child has the chance to succeed,” Maduekesi stated.

Beyond scholarships, the foundation will roll out vocational training and skill acquisition programs tailored for women and youth. These programs will equip beneficiaries with practical skills in trades such as tailoring, hairstyling, catering, and digital literacy, enhancing their employability and financial independence.

“By equipping individuals with marketable skills, we can help them secure sustainable livelihoods and contribute meaningfully to their communities,” he added.

Recognizing the direct link between health and economic stability, the foundation will also launch healthcare initiatives, including free medical checkups, subsidized treatments, and health education programs for underserved populations.

“A healthy community is a thriving community. Our healthcare programs will ensure that beneficiaries receive the support they need to lead healthy lives,” said Maduekesi.

As the foundation gears up to roll out its programs in the coming months, Maduekesi called on corporate organizations, government agencies, and well-meaning individuals to support the initiative in creating a long-term impact.

“Addressing systemic poverty requires collective effort. We invite stakeholders to collaborate with us to ensure that no vulnerable person is left behind,” he said.

The foundation’s launch reinforces Rev. Dr. Maduekesi’s growing reputation as a humanitarian leader committed to empowering vulnerable populations and tackling deep-rooted socio-economic challenges.
