Warri refinery: FG urged to ensure it functions at full capacity

The Niger Delta Youth Council (NDYC), has lauded President Bola Tinubu for ensuring that the Warri refinery Petrochemicals company , WRPC resumed operations , urging him to see that the place runs at full capacity.

President, of the group, Comrade Bene Youkore Mamamu, a.k.a. Young Chief, in a statement in Warri, Delta State commended the President for success recorded so far at resuscitating the refinery, noting that the place when in full operation will boost national economy.

“It will be a great boost for the nation’s economy and the Niger Delta region if the 60,000 barrel per day old Port Harcourt Refinery and the 125,000 barrels per day Warri Refinery could produce consistently and eventually push down the price of petroleum products”, the group said.

The NDYC also commended the Chief Executive Officer of the NNPCL, Mele Kyari for his commitment to resuscitation of the Port Harcourt and Warri refineries in the Niger Delta region.

“Full capacity operations at the Refineries, including loading of premium motor spirit, PMS for consumption will add the much needed value to the Nigerian economy”, they said.

The statement :”If all the refineries in the country are restored to full operational capacity, the issue of economic hardship would be addressed to an appreciable extent.

“More importantly, the Refinery’s potential to create employment opportunities for thousands of youths, particularly in the Niger Delta region is something worth celebrating.

“And we demand job opportunities for Niger Delta youths in the Refineries.”.

They also harped on the urgent need to address other pressing issues in the Niger Delta including environmental degradation, unemployment, and equitable resource allocation.
