GOVERNOR Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State yesterday, received the new Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mrs Mojisola Meranda and other Principal Officers of the House with a pledge to chart a cordial relationship.

Recall that Meranda, last week, emerged as the Speaker following the impeachment of her predecessor, Mr Mudashiru Obasa.

Governor Sanwo-Olu led the Speaker and her delegation to the Council Chamber, where she pledged a harmonious work relationship between the two arms of government in Lagos State.

The governor congratulated Meranda on her election describing her emergence as “well-deserving and commendable.”

Speaking after the courtesy visit, the governor promised to work with Meranda in upholding the principle of separation of powers, which remains the bedrock of democracy.
