The leadership of the Coalition of Ogun State Students and Youths (COSSY) has expressed condolences to the family, colleagues, friends and supporters of Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, who was until her passing, the Deputy Chief Whip of the Federal House of Representatives representing Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North federal Constituency
She died recently after a brief illness. The youths and students spoke through the Convener of the pressure group, Comrade Oladimeji Uthman in a statement issued on Friday in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.
“Few days ago, we received with grief, the passing of a woman of extraordinary kindness, a humanitarian and and a woman with unwavering commitment to community service, Rt. Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga.”
The students urged the President Bola Tinubu and the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun to speedily implement an immortalization plan for the late legislator, who they described as a seasoned administrator, educationist and humanitarian.
“While she was alive, Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga recorded many towering achievements, her leadership style and passion for community development left an enduring impact not just in her constituency but across Ogun State and Nigeria. She was a trailblazer and an inspiration to many, especially women aspiring to leadership roles.
“Her unwavering commitment to the well-being of her constituents and her ability to create meaningful change will be remembered for years to come and as a voice for the oppressed in the society will be missed.
“Her memory will forever be etched in our hearts, remembered for her devotion to God, doggedness, passion for education, humility, and her unwavering dedication to the welfare of her constituents.
“As we convey our deepest sympathies to the Onanuga family, 10th National Assembly, Ogun State government, the entire Remoland, friends, associates, and well-wishers, we fervently pray to God to grant you all the strength to bear this irreparable loss and pray that the Lord almighty grants her eternal rest,” Oladimeji said.
