NEM Insurance strengthens educational ties with Yabatech

In a bid to foster collaboration between the corporate and educational sectors, NEM Insurance Plc welcomed the Rector of Yaba College of Technology, Yabatech, Dr. Ibraheem Abdul, to their Lagos headquarters.

The visit marked a significant step toward developing cooperative initiatives aimed at enhancing the educational experiences of students while meeting the evolving demands of the job market.

During the meeting, the Managing Director of NEM Insurance, Mr. Andrew Ikekhua, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “We recognize the critical role that education plays in shaping Nigeria’s future. At NEM Insurance, we are committed to supporting programs that prepare students for the dynamic needs of the workforce.”

On his part, Dr. Abdul noted YabaTech’s commitment to equipping students with the skills required in today’s competitive environment.

He remarked, “Our goal at YabaTech is to graduate individuals who are not just academically excellent but also industry-ready. Collaborating with reputable companies like NEM Insurance is essential for achieving this mission.”

Both leaders discussed a range of innovative projects that could benefit YabaTech students. Among the proposals is the introduction of internship opportunities at NEM Insurance, which would provide students with hands-on experience in the insurance and financial services sectors.

Additionally, they spoke about developing specialized courses in risk management and insurance, as well as customized training programs aimed at enhancing real-world skills.

Chairman of NEM Insurance, Mr Tope Smart, also reinforced the company’s commitment to these initiatives, saying, “We are fully dedicated to supporting YabaTech’s proposed projects. Your aspirations are secure with us, and together, we can reach significant milestones that will benefit both YabaTech and NEM Insurance.”

This partnership highlights NEM Insurance’s dedication to corporate social responsibility and human capital development, showcasing the company’s proactive approach to engaging with Nigeria’s educational institutions.
