Insecurity: Happenings in my village beyond human comprehension – BAFARAWA

SOKOTO: Sokoto state former Governor Alhaji Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa has said that, what’s happening in Sokoto East and parts of Shinkafi local government area of Zamfara states is beyond human comprehension.

Bafarawa who was a two term former Governor of Sokoto state made the remarks while expressing his utmost concern on the happenings in Bafarawa and other Communities in Sokoto East, Zamfara and Katsina states to members of the Correspondent chapel who were on a courtesy visit to his at his residence in Sokoto the state capital.

He said the threat issued by the Bandits kingpin Bello Turji for the security to release his in-law who was picked from Hospital bed in Shinkafi or faced consistent attacks is of great concern to communities in Isa and Shinkafi local government areas.

” The Arm forces have the wherewithal and capability to bring him to justice, but the funny side of the story is that, the criminal is still playing a hide and seek game with those who matters to apprehend him”

” There should be a collective engagement and support from the citizenry for the likes of Turji to be rooted out of Sokoto, Zamfara and Katsina states”.

” The criminals in my village move freely with there weapons molesting whoever they want to, ” I am in touch with my community they always called to intimate me on the development taking place which gives me sleepless night, ” We are always praying seeking for God’s divine intervention, “I am certain Soon our prayers will be answered” Says Bafarawa.

” We should join hands together to salvage our country from the current economic predicaments and wanton insecurity facing the north and other parts of the country “

” We should put the country Nigeria first before anything as part of our new year resolutions”

” We should improve on security in the rural areas for our farmers to be able to grow crops and other stuff to feed themselves and the nation”

” A situation whereby citizens gives information on the movement of troops and supplies to terrorists and other criminals is tantamount to helping.

He further expressed concern on the security situation around Sokoto and its borders with Niger Republic, and urged government to take proactive measures to overcome the situation.

“It’s a real concern, but we are not unaware of the situation. We as citizens have to work hard to tackle it. The collaboration with our neighbors will help forestall the movement of terrorists, arms, and ammunition,”

“We must also amplify support to our security forces, enhance our localized intelligence systems, stimulate investment in agriculture and agri-business, expand rural infrastructure, broaden access to education and healthcare, and promote inclusivity among all our citizens,” he said.

” Insecurity is currently shaping away the aspirations of many Youths in the northwest”.

He also expressed concern over the debilitating effects of insecurity on the North-West Zone, that include food insecurity, limited access to healthcare, and increased poverty urban and rural communities.

“ The deteriorating condition had also effected all facets of life in the region, ” Our zone, which once served as the food basket of many states, now faces the challenge of food insecurity. “Our people can not access health facilities while most of our children are there roaming in the metropolis looking for what to eat”.

” We have to coordinate and join hands together in the fight against terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, and other criminal elements that are given us sleepless nights.

“We need to localized our intelligence systems, government should also invest heavily in agriculture and expand rural infrastructure to win the hearts and minds of rural communities, broaden access to education , healthcare, and inclusivity for us to succeed”
