The Housing Development Advocacy Network (HDAN), has applauded the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), for dismissing twenty seven (27) currupt officers from its workforce, describing it as a significant milestone in the fight against graft.

In a statement released in Abuja on Thursday,  Festus Adebayo, Executive Director of HDAN,  applauded Mr Olanipekun Olukoyede-led EFCC for cleansing the agency of criminal officers who have been enmeshed in corrupt practices and other vices. Describing the development as a milestone in the fight against corruption.

Adebayo stressed the need to address corruption in Nigeria, especially in the real estate sector and every other facet of our national life. Emphasizing that no corrupt society ever achieves its potential, the  affordable housing advocate commended the EFCC for carrying out the self cleansing  action as it would help other officers to be cautious

“This is a message that there is hope for Nigeria. The news about the unprofessional activities of some EFCC staff handling high profile cases, including those relating to  real estate, is not encouraging at all. 

“It is pathetic that some of these unscrupulous staff turn around to receive bribes and indulge in corrupt practices they are meant to curb,” he said. 

Adebayo charged all Nigerians, irrespective of class, religion, and ethnic backgrounds, to join hands with the relevant authorities to curb the infectious menace of corruption that has enveloped and weakened the foundation of Nigeria. 

According to him, “The anti corruption fight is a collective fight and should not be left for the EFCC and ICPC alone to fight. Nigerians from all backgrounds must join hands together to end this menace before it ends us as a nation. “It is a collective responsibility and all Nigerians must play their part.” 

Futhermore, Adebayo called on all stakeholders to speak in unison against real estate scams, agreement default among real estate developers and other related professionals.

“As for us in housing advocacy  network we will not relent in promoting integrity  and professionalism in our sector, the statement said.

Recall that the 

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), in a statement on Monday January 6, said it dismissed 27 officers for various offences bordering on fraudulent activities and misconduct.  

Their dismissal, following the recommendation of the staff Disciplinary Committee of the EFCC, was ratified by the Executive Chairman, Mr Olanipekun Olukoyede.
