The Big Tent Coalition, led by Professor Pat Utomi, has condemned, in the strongest terms the glaring hypocrisy, incoherence, and lack of strategic clarity displayed by the Nigerian Federal Government in its handling of yesterday’s U.S. airstrikes against ISIS-linked terrorists in North-West Nigeria.

The concert stretched into the early hours of Friday, with fans filling the venue to witness exhilarating live performances from some of the country’s biggest music acts.

Human rights lawyer and social critic, Dele Farotimi, has strongly criticised recent reports of United States military strikes on ISIS-linked targets in Nigeria, describing the action as a violation of the country’s sovereignty and a reflection of leadership failure.

Human rights lawyer and former Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, has raised concerns over what he described as a significant shift in Nigeria’s official narrative on insecurity in the North-West, following recent United States airstrikes on terrorist targets in the region.

The laws in question are the Nigeria Tax Act, 2025; the Nigeria Tax Administration Act, 2025; the Joint Revenue Board of Nigeria (Establishment) Act, 2025; and the Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Act, 2025.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticised the Federal Government over what it described as a troubling communication failure that saw the United States announce a terrorist strike carried out in Nigeria before Nigerian authorities informed the public.

Asked if there would be more strikes, Tuggar said: “It is an ongoing thing, and we are working with the US. We are working with other countries as well.”

The suspects were alleged to have engaged in unlawful assembly and breach of peace at the Sango-Ota area of the state.

His sentencing, expected later on Friday, is likely to heap years onto the six-year term he is already serving for a separate case related to the now-defunct state investment vehicle.

Top military sources have confirmed that the recent U.S. Navy precision strikes against terrorist targets in North West Nigeria, conducted in coordination with the Nigerian military, were highly successful, achieving their objectives.

The Israeli military announced a series of strikes on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon on Friday, including weapons depots and a training complex.

“It’s Nigeria that provided the intelligence,” Foreign Minister Yusuf Tuggar told a local television network, Channels TV, saying he was on the phone with US State Secretary Marco Rubio.

The Pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, has described the recent joint air strikes by Nigerian and United States military forces against ISIS terrorist elements in North-West Nigeria as both timely and necessary.
