Also in 2024, Nigerian films achieved a significant milestone by securing 50.4% of box office revenue, surpassing foreign films. 

Top 10 grossing Nigerian movies of 2024:

Queen Lateefah

Directed by Adeoluwa Owu, this drama film stars Wumi Toriola in the titular role. It became the highest-grossing Nigerian film of 2024, earning ₦357,711,417.

Àjosepò

A comedy-drama directed by Kayode Kasum, ‘Àjosepò’ tells the story of a young couple preparing for their wedding amidst family tensions and secrets. It grossed ₦257,254,189.

Beast of Two Worlds: Ajakaju

This Yoruba-language film, directed by Adebayo Tijani and Odunlade Adekola, and produced by Eniola Ajao earned ₦252,801,675.

Lakatabu

A crime thriller that maintained its top spot for two weeks in July, grossing ₦202,253,250.

The Farmer’s Bride

Directed by Adebayo Tijani and Jack’enneth Opukeme, this film collected ₦164,143,345.

Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti

Directed by Bolanle Austen-Peters, this biographical film grossed ₦157,096,847.

A Tribe Called Judah
