RETECH Foundation, RF, in partnership with the Consulate General, Federal Republic of Germany, Lagos
completed the implementation of our ‘Paint Your School’, PYS, initiative in 28 public secondary schools
in Anambra and Edo States.
The “paint your school” (PYS) initiative was launched as the first in our series of the Good Citizenship
Initiatives. The PYS initiative is carried out in such a way that the students paint their own classrooms
after being provided with paints and a protective gear, under the supervision of the school authorities,
professional painters and RF’s supervisors.
The PYS initiative, the first of its kind in Nigeria, aims to imbibe a sense of responsibility as the participating pupils learn to take responsibility for their learning environment and are more likely to maintain school facilities. It promotes skills development as the pupils learn vital skills which will serve them well in the future. Pupils work as a team and learn to assist one another.
It also improves the learning environment and improves self-esteem of the pupils and teachers.
