The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has assured that 2025 will be a pivotal year for consolidating the ongoing reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which are already yielding positive results across various sectors of Nigeria’s economy.

Idris made this statement in Abuja on Tuesday during the management retreat of the Voice of Nigeria (VON). He emphasized that public broadcasters must highlight the administration’s achievements.

“There’s no doubt, I assure you, that 2025 will consolidate Mr. President’s Renewed Hope Agenda reforms, which are already yielding good results in different aspects of our socio-economic and political life,” he said.

The Minister explained that President Tinubu is pursuing an ambitious fiscal reform agenda aimed at allocating more resources to state and local governments, ultimately benefiting the Nigerian people in line with the principles of true federalism.

Idris specifically tasked VON, Nigeria’s external broadcaster, to communicate the nation’s journey towards economic recovery and its reemergence as a regional and international powerhouse.

“The Voice of Nigeria must convey to the world that Nigeria is working again; that we are winning the war on terrorism, banditry, and ethnic conflicts; that we are reinvigorating our population toward sustainable productivity; that our youth now have clearer paths to quality tertiary education through the National Education Loans (NEL) Fund; and that we are undergoing an energy transition that will guarantee more sustainable electricity and gas,” he said.

The Minister underscored the importance of accurate international reporting on Nigeria’s progress, ensuring there are no gaps in conveying the country’s path to greatness.

Idris also noted the government’s commitment to using VON’s resources to combat the threats of fake news, disinformation, and misinformation abroad. He called for media organizations like VON to embrace emerging digital technologies to remain competitive and relevant in the global media landscape.

He concluded by praising the Director General of VON, Malam Jibrin Baba Ndace, and the staff for their dedication and strategic vision in steering the organization toward operational excellence.
