Wing Chun Body Fitness Foundation for workers and children, also known as the Wing Chun Foundation, has emphasised the practical need for mental resilience through discipline and trade-off.
The Foundation noted that Lagos is a city known for its fast-paced business environment and diverse expatriate population.
The Non Governmental Organisation, NGO, according to a statement stated that it adopts a clear cut approach: leveraging ancient Wing Chun martial arts techniques to develop discipline, situational awareness, and mental toughness, particularly for business executives, children, and expatriates.
The statement noted that the Foundation’s leadership balances modern expertise with traditional training.
“Ade Olufeko, an award winning technologist, draws from decades of experience in crisis management, including his work on IBM’s counter measures team during the 2003 Blaster Worm outbreak. Alongside him is Bolaji Ogunleye, whose career with the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation offers a pragmatic understanding of resilience in high-stakes environments” the statement said.
The statement added :” Programs prioritize outcomes over frills. Executives are equipped with tools to manage stress and make better decisions under pressure. Children receive early exposure to structured training, teaching them discipline and focus that will serve them in their formative years. Expatriates are offered tailored sessions to help them navigate Lagos’s intense demands with increased situational awareness”.
Meanwhile, speaking during the launch of the Foundation, Olufeko said : “The trade-off here is straightforward. To cultivate lasting resilience, participants must invest time and effort into practice. This is not about instant gratification but about laying the foundation for enduring mental and physical strength”.
Olufeko added : “The Foundation does not shy away from addressing the challenges of its model. Participation requires commitment, and the results, while transformative, depend heavily on consistency. In a culture often drawn to immediate solutions, this insistence on discipline is both a strength and a potential barrier”.
“By targeting diverse groups and partnering with schools, corporations, and community organizations, the Wing Chun Foundation Lagos provides a unique yet practical solution for individuals seeking growth. Its emphasis on long-term benefits over short-term fixes positions it as a pivotal resource in fostering resilience in one of Africa’s most demanding cities” the statement added.
