Labosky, a Nigerian artist and hypeman who has built his name in both Nigeria and Qatar, has said that music and hype are deeply interconnected arts.

Currently based in Qatar as the resident hypeman at the renowned Matrix Club and Hotel, Labosky has a unique perspective on the role hype plays in elevating music and vice versa.

“Music and hype go hand in hand,” Labosky explains. “As a hypeman, you’re setting the mood, the energy, and creating a connection between the audience and the music. It’s not just about hyping the crowd, it’s about becoming part of the music, enhancing the experience for everyone in the room.”

Labosky’s journey into the dual roles of artist and hypeman has been a seamless blend of his passion for both fields. His voice and energy have brought an unmatched vibe to the nightlife in Qatar, where he frequently performs at private events, weddings, and club gatherings, while also pursuing his own music career. For him, one art form doesn’t compete with the other but rather enhances it.

“I get asked a lot if hyping stops me from focusing on my music career, but I see both as two arms of entertainment,” Labosky says. “They’re both a form of expression, and I don’t feel I have to choose between them. Hyping feeds my music, and my music fuels my energy as a hypeman.”

Labosky’s dual role in the entertainment world has allowed him to reach wider audiences and connect deeply with fans in Qatar and Nigeria alike. His performances during events like the Nigerian Independence celebration in Qatar and high-profile visits from DJ Dopecaesar and actress Nkechi Blessing have made him a household name. Through these experiences, he’s witnessed firsthand how music and hype are essential to each other, each strengthening the other’s impact.

“When I’m on stage as a hypeman, it’s like I’m creating the first chapter of a story that the music completes. Together, we’re giving the audience an experience they’ll remember,” he reflects. “Music and hype are intertwined, and when you understand that, the whole experience becomes powerful and unforgettable.”
