The Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has shared how he triumphed in the 21st September governorship election in Edo State, attributing his victory to the grace of God, constant prayers, and the support of the people of Edo.

Governor Okpebholo made this revelation on Wednesday evening during his post-swearing-in Thanksgiving Service, held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, the state capital.

He urged Nigerians to place their trust in God, regardless of life’s challenges.

In his testimony, Okpebholo recounted an unusual experience prior to his election victory. He discovered a dead bat on his bed just before the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him the winner of the 21st September Edo State governorship election.

He shared: “I want to thank God. In this last election, while I was praising God, my traducers were busy working through television, social media, and other platforms. But I took the battle to God because I knew the secret.

“A few days before the election, they said I was crazy. We gathered to praise God in this state, and they mocked me on TV. But I listened to the voice of God, and I won the battle.”

The Governor continued: “After the election, on Sunday morning, I went to my room and found that a bat had died on my bed, without me firing a single arrow.

“But the spirit of God was there. The arrow of God, the hand of God, delivered me.”

He expressed gratitude to the men of God who stood in prayer on his behalf, and to those who believed that with God, all things are possible.

He also offered this advice to others: “Trust in God alone, because He will do it for you.”

Governor Okpebholo further emphasized that throughout his election campaign, he did not consult any native doctors, prophets, or visit any shrines seeking assistance.

The thanksgiving service was attended by prominent politicians, music artists, and clergymen.
