Filming in Nigeria not chronological – Onyinye Odokoro

By Ayo Onikoyi

Onyinye Odokoro, who stars as Zara Osara, the lead actress in “Princess on a Hill” has let slip a bit of a glitch about filming in Nigeria when sharing her experience of bringing her complex character to life in an interview with Showmax shared with Potpourri.

According to her, “If there were a hundred scenes in Princess on a Hill, Zara is in 99.8% of them. There was hardly any downtime for me. Normally, with a bit of downtime, you can pick up lines while other actors are filming, but I didn’t have that luxury. When you watch, you’ll see there’s a lot of heavy dialogue. I had to not only learn the lines but also deliver them with emotional accuracy to portray Zara’s depth. Filming in Nigeria is not chronological either, which added to the challenge.”

Odokoro meant that scenes were not shot in the order in which they occurred and this could pose a tremendous challenge to an actor, particularly in mastery of their lines. And she echoed this challenge known so well in Nollywood when asked how she prepared for the role of Sara.

She answered, “As I mentioned, filming wasn’t chronological, so I was very focused on understanding Zara’s state of mind at each stage of her journey.”

In the exclusive interview, Onyinye shares insights into Zara’s transformation from a naive underdog to a corporate powerhouse, the lessons audiences can learn from the series, and how “Princess on a Hill” has shaped her as an actor.

With powerhouse performances from Nollywood icons like Bimbo Manuel and Iretiola Doyle, Princess on a Hill is an unmissable Showmax Original.

Zara’s journey is marked by cold confrontations, dark alliances, and the question that will define her fate: “What do you truly want in life?” With a chilling resolve, Zara’s answer is simple: power.
