Hon. Okpolupm Etteh, the lawmaker representing the Eket/ONNA/Esit-Eket/Ibeno Federal Constituency in Akwa Ibom State, has reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing the skills and capacity of the youth in his constituency to help them thrive in both the public and private sectors of the economy.

Etteh made this statement yesterday while launching the second phase of Youth Training and Certification in Oil and Gas Maintenance Services at the Standard Institute of Technology in Uyo.

Represented by Mr. Ekoakwaha Etteh, a former Chapter Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibeno Local Government Area, the lawmaker recalled that the first phase of the training focused on Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), benefiting many young individuals who have since received certification and are now equipped for professional roles.

“In the first phase, scores of youths received intensive training in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), many of whom are now certified and prepared to take on professional roles in both private and public sectors,” he stated.

“This training and many others that will follow represent my unwavering commitment to youth capacity building, which is a key component of my development agenda for the Federal Constituency. The second phase builds on that foundation by introducing technical skills aligned with opportunities in the oil and gas sector, a critical industry for our region.

“This program will not only empower beneficiaries but also position them to seize career opportunities in the highly competitive oil and gas industry.”

During the orientation session, Abigail Umoh, the Human Resource Manager, explained that the program is expected to have a transformative impact on the trainees, providing them with a solid foundation for career advancement in the oil and gas sector.
