NGO empowers Nigerians with digital skills amid evolving working environment

Over 1,000 participants have benefited from two digital empowerment programmes—Empower Her 1.0 and Remote Work 3.0—organised by Focus on Growth and Development (FOGDEV), aimed at equipping Nigerians with essential digital skills.

The Empower Her 1.0 initiative focused on reducing the gender gap in technology by providing women from various backgrounds, including stay-at-home mothers and aspiring entrepreneurs, with training in digital marketing and graphic design.

The programme was designed to give women the tools needed to thrive in the digital economy.

“Empowering women with digital skills is key to changing communities and growing the economy,” said FOGDEV’s Programme Coordinator, Olufunmi Fatokun.

Remote Work 3.0, another programme organised by FOGDEV, trained participants on the essentials of remote work, including technical tools and key soft skills such as accountability and effective communication.

The programme aimed to prepare Nigerians for the global shift towards remote working environments.

“Remote work isn’t just a buzzword anymore—it’s the future,” Fatokun stated, urging Nigerians to take advantage of the opportunities in remote work.

FOGDEV reiterated its commitment to bridging the education-employment gap, with plans for ongoing mentorship and future programmes, including Remote Work 4.0.

The organisation aims to ensure that Nigerians are not just spectators in the changing job market but active participants ready to excel in the evolving workforce. to thrive
