5 countries where you don’t have to pay tax

By Lawrence Agbo

There are several countries that have stable economies, and the government does not need taxpayers’ money to operate the affairs of the state.

These countries are very pleasant, popular and ideal for individuals looking for a place to work without paying much taxes.

Here are 5 countries where you don’t have to pay tax.

The Bahamas

The Bahamas is one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations where individuals do not pay income tax.

A waiver from income tax is part of the country’s efforts to attract international investment, particularly from wealthy persons seeking second citizenship or residency through investment. However, the Bahamas has other forms of taxation, such as value-added tax (VAT) and property taxes.

However, the country has poor medical services and is very expensive. Many American expatriates who have decided to live in the Bahamas nonetheless return to the United States (US) when they need good medical care.

United Arab Emirates (UAE)

The UAE has a thriving economy and a more multicultural environment than the majority of countries in the Middle East, and has no personal income tax, making cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi popular destinations for professionals.

The UAE earns plenty of money from oil exports, so residents can live there tax-free, and it is one of the countries that prioritises safety and development.

However, oil companies and foreign banks are levied corporate taxes and value-added tax (VAT) on most goods and services.

Monaco

Monaco is an independent city-state on the French Riviera that is roughly five times the size of the Vatican, with no personal income tax for residents or citizens.

The city boasts huge, well-developed marinas that are often filled by a variety of yachts from around the world, attracting high-net-worth individuals.

Despite being one of the most expensive cities in the world to live in, it also has one of the lowest crime rates of any country.

Bermuda

Bermuda is a British colony in the North Atlantic Ocean noted for its pink sand beaches and 0% income tax. It has a population of only 64,000.

The government does not levy personal income tax on its people, and the cost of living is fairly expensive, but the tax-free system attracts expats and enterprises.

Bermuda is much more picturesque and developed than the Caribbean, with better roads and public transit.

Vanuatu

The Island of Vanuatu is a paradise located in the Pacific Ocean, and has no income tax, wealth tax, or capital gains tax.

It’s a popular destination for those looking for a simple, tax-free lifestyle like retirees and pensioners.

These countries are mostly tourist destinations attracting individuals seeking to invest in real estate while minimising tax obligations and enjoying a favourable living environment.
