President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his commitment to building a robust digital public infrastructure to drive the Renewed Hope Agenda and ensure access to services for all Nigerians.
He emphasized the crucial role of digital identity in the success of government programs, such as farmer incentives, student loans, and social welfare initiatives.
At the National Identity Day event organized by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) in Abuja, President Tinubu, represented by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, highlighted the importance of digital public infrastructure (DPI) in enabling access to essential services like healthcare, education, and financial inclusion.
The President praised NIMC Director-General, Engineer Abisoye Coker Odusote, for her efforts in advancing the digital identity agenda and commended her dedication to ensuring the success of government initiatives.
Earlier, Engr. Abisoye Corker-Odusote emphasized the indispensable role of DPI in Nigeria’s economic development, providing a framework that connects citizens to essential services. She noted that NIMC has enrolled over 110 million Nigerians in the National Identity Number (NIN) program.
The event, themed “Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), Enabling Access to Services,” aimed to highlight the importance of identity and its responsible use for inclusion, protection, and empowerment.
