Osanyintolu called on stakeholders to reaffirm their commitment to collaboration, ensuring that every child in Lagos State can achieve their full potential. She stressed that by tackling current challenges with determination and unity, they can create a brighter and more equitable uture for both children and the state. Earlier in her opening remarks, Mrs. Bukayo Odukoya, Director of Child Development, represented by Deputy Director Mrs. Adenike, encouraged stakeholders to engage actively and assured them that their perspectives and expertise are vital as the state seeks to enhance policies and interventions aimed at improving children’s wellbeing.

The meeting concluded with several recommendations aimed at enhancing the welfare of children. These included, but were not limited to, establishing foster care provisions that allow children in orphanages to grow up in family settings, promoting a more balanced life for them. It was also suggested that educational programs be made available yearround for children rescued from the streets.

Additionally, a health scheme specifically for children should be implemented, and the government should work to improve the justice system to ensure that children in conflict with the law do not remain in detention centers indefinitely. The ministry was also urged to enhance the quality of social inquiry reports, among other recommendations.
