One of the pioneer Nollywood female producers, screenwriter and director Emem Isong-Misode, who relocated to the United States a few years back, has joined the league of Nigerian celebrities who are doctorate degree holders.
The award-winning producer of films such as “The Breaking Point,” Reloaded”, “Private Sin””She Devi’ among others recently bagged a doctorate degree in Film and Media Arts from the University of the Creative Arts, in the United Kingdom.
The four years programme saw the absurd film producer researching on how hybridity has emerged in the process of constructing identity in Nigerian Nollywood cinema.
According to her, the study was informed by her over 25 years of experience as a Nigerian filmmaker.
Celebrating her new status on Instagram,. Emem wrote” It has been a full circle of this doctoral research at the University of the Creative Arts, to which I am grateful for supporting me on this journey. 2020 to 2024 – four years of gruelling study. And now, two hours after a comprehensive viva presentation, feedback and recommendations, I humbly present to you, Dr. Emem Isong Misodi (PhD).
This is even as Emem is warming for the second edition of her film festival called African Cultural Film FestivaL (,AFFRICUFF, which yearly holds in Houston, the United States, from October 25 through 26, with the “Cultural Resilience: Strength In Diversity.” The maiden edition of the film festival held last year and it was a huge success. .
