The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has recovered N9 billion for the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), a significant boost to the fund’s efforts to support national development and good causes.
The recovery was announced during a visit by NLTF Executive Secretary, Comrade Tosin Adeyanju, to the EFCC headquarters, where he thanked the anti-graft agency for its efforts.
Adeyanju urged the EFCC to sustain its efforts in ensuring that all gaming companies remit their dues, enabling the NLTF to achieve its mandates.
“EFCC has recovered over N9 billion for us. I urge you to sustain your efforts in ensuring that all gaming companies remit their dues,” he said.
Adeyanju explained that the agency aims to promote transparency and accountability in the lottery industry, ensuring compliance with regulations and timely remittances by gaming companies.
According to him, the fund’s initiatives contribute to national development and the spread of good causes across Nigeria, including education, water, healthcare, sports, and disaster management.
On his part, the EFCC Executive Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, assured the NLTF of enhanced collaboration in debt recovery, stating that it is the EFCC’s statutory obligation to do so.
He emphasized that all recovered funds go to the relevant agencies, and advised the NLTF Executive Secretary to always act with integrity.
“It is our statutory obligation to ensure that all recovered funds go to the relevant agencies. Always do the right thing because tomorrow, someone else will review your activities,” Olukoyede said.
Meanwhile, the partnership between the EFCC and NLTF seeks to strengthen the lottery industry in Nigeria, promoting good causes and supporting national development.
