Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State, has on Tuesday, said the state government will in due course announce names of 2nd class Emirs to oversee the affairs of the newly created three second class Emirates in the state.

The Governor who was flanked by his Deputy, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo and the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Jibril Falgore made this known shortly after signing the Kano State Emirate Council establishment bill 2024 into the law at the Kano State government house.

Governor Yusuf said the establishment of the Emirates is a testament that the government recognizes the traditional institution.

According to him, “The establishment of the emirates is a testament to our commitment to recognize and strengthen the traditional leadership structure that has played a pivotal role in administration and development of our communities

“Our administration recognizes the invaluable contributions of traditional institutions in maintaining peace, stability and fostering development.

“It is our believe that these Emirates will enhance local administration and ensure that the rich cultural heritage of our communities is preserved.

“As we moved forward, I urged all the newly established Emirates to work in harmony within the confines of the Kano emirate to promote unity, peace and development across our state.

“This administration will in due course announced the respective second class emirs who will take charge of the newly established Emirates.

“Let me seize this opportunity to extend my heart felt appreciation on behalf of the government and good people of the state thank the Kano State House of Assembly under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Jibril Falgore for responding to the yearnings and aspirations of the people of the state. The Assembly has discharged yet another significant constitutional responsibility by passing a bill for the establishment of three second class Emirates in Kano State. This significant milestone marks a new chapter in our continuous effort to preserve and enhance the cultural heritage and traditional institutions that are in tandem to the identity and unity of our dear state,” Governor Yusuf said.

Earlier, the Speaker, Kano State House of Assembly, Jibril Falgore said the house has already passed the Kano State Emirate Council bill and if assented to will improve the economy of the Emirates and take the people close to the government.

Recall that the state assembly had earlier in the day passed a bill into law for the creation of three 2nd class Emirates in the state.

The new second class Emirates to be created include: Rano Emirate (Rano – Bunkure – Kibiya), Karaye Emirate (Karaye – Rogo) and Gaya Emirate (Gaya – Ajingi – Albasu).
