Sets for membership registration
Shina Abubakar, Osogbo
OSOGBO – The All Progressives Congress in Osun State, APC, has disclosed that it has reported the various anti-party activities of the former Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola to the National Executive Committee of the party.
This is as the party is set to commence electronic membership registration in the state and passed a vote of confidence on both President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola.
Speaking with newsmen after a stakeholders meeting held at the party Secretariat in Osogbo, the party Secretary, Mr Kamorudeen Alao said Aregbesola’s anti-party activities are distracting the party in the state, hence, he was reported to ensure decorum.
He said the former governor’s action has shown that he is no longer with the party in the state but due to his status, his case can only be dealt with at the national Secretariat level.
His words, “Rauf Aregbesola as far as we are concerned in Osun APC, is no more a member of the party in the State.
“We have taken steps three times to notify the National Secretariat that Aregbesola is giving us distractions in APC in the state and it behoves the party at the national level to do the needful in dealing with him because he is a national figure. I know, soonest that the national leadership will act on our report”.
While reading the communique after the meeting, the State Chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, urged members of the party to steer clear of any membership registration by any group in the state, saying the party would roll out its membership registration next week in line with the directive of the national secretariat.
“The meeting also clarified that the party has not started any membership registration in the state and any form of registration on behalf of the party is unknown to any organ of the party and therefore, the party members should ignore such registration in whatever form.
“It was resolved that any of the disenchanted member(s) of the party who is genuinely repentant should be encouraged for full integration into our party at the unit and ward levels.
“It also passed a vote of confidence on Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, for adding substantial value to the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the leadership of President Tinubu with a strong belief in his capacity to navigate the current economy challenges confronting the nation”, he added.
It would be recalled that the Omoluabi Progressive, a caucus led by Aregbesola had on June 2, 2024, in a statement by Publicity Secretary, Seun Abosede, said it commenced membership registration in Ilesa and urged members to come out en mass to register.
