ABUJA – The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has ordered the arrest and investigation of two EFCC officers involved in the assault of a female staff of Regional Hotel in Lagos.
The officers were part of a team that conducted an early morning raid at the hotel, resulting in the arrest of several suspects.
However, the two officers were seen in a viral video assaulting the hotel staff, prompting the EFCC boss to take swift action.
According to the EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, the commission has launched a detailed investigation into the incident and assured that appropriate disciplinary measures will be taken against the officers if found culpable.
The EFCC boss reiterated the commission’s commitment to professionalism and respect for the rule of law, promising that such conduct will not be tolerated under his watch.
Oyewale said, “The EFCC boss has ordered a detailed investigation into the operation carried out at Regional Hotel, Lagos, and has assured that appropriate disciplinary measures will be taken against any officer found culpable.
“The EFCC will continue to do its job professionally and with profound respect for the rule of law.
“The operation at Regional Hotel yielded a sizable number of suspects who are still being profiled.”
The investigation is ongoing, and the suspects arrested during the raid are still being profiled.
