Take a step of faith

Take a step of faith

By Funmi Komolafe

Brethren, we give God all the glory for He has made us see the first Sunday in the month of May.  By His grace, you and I shall see the end of the year joyfully in Jesus name.

Beloved, God created us to worship and serve Him and have a fulfilled life.   However, what we choose to have in life varies.  Many of what we desire, God has provided but we need to work towards possessing it. Meaning, we have to take physical steps.

For a believer indeed a Christian, one sure way of presenting our case or cases to God is prayer.

Philippians 4 vs. 6 ( KJV): “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God”.

What we do not have is not a reason to fail to thank the Lord.

Sometimes we need to add fasting to show that we are serious about what we want from the Lord.

Fasting is inevitable especially when one has experienced long delays or one has taken every step humanly possible without the expected result.

Worship of the Lord in songs and praises is another means of communicating with God.

Psalm 22 vs.3( KJV) “ But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel”.  We are told that when we praise  the Lord with all  our hearts, God is moved into swift action.  When praises go up, miracles come down.

However, human beings and indeed forces beyond our control may prevent us from getting our heart’s desires.

A good example is found  Daniel chapter 10 when Daniel fasted and prayed, saw a vision but didn’t  understand the vision.

Let’s  confirm this in Daniel 10 vs. 3 “ I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh  nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself  at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled”.  Daniel fasted for 21 days after which he saw a vision and an angel was sent to him .

Verses 10-13 completes the story: “ And, behold, an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms of  my hands

And he said unto me O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words  that I speak  unto thee,  and stand upright: for unto thee am I sent.

And when he had spoken  this word unto me, I stood trembling.

Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself  before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words”.

Note that the angel said, Daniel’s prayer had been answered but something happened.

Verse 13 tells us: “ But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days; but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me: and I remained there with the kings of Persia”.

Daniel prayed for 21 days, the Prince of Persia  stood against the answer to his prayers for 21 days.

It simply means that as Daniel prayed, forces that didn’t want his prayers answers withstood his answer.

Perhaps you have been praying and fasting and a monitoring spirit has been actively watching you .  This often happens and its one of the reasons why some pray and it get no answers.

Whatever represents the prince of Persia in your life that has caused you to have sleepless nights or wasted your resources, the Most High God shall set you free in Jesus name.

Enemy delay or not, once you are on the right side with God, the answer to your prayers will manifest .

Angel Michael  was sent to intervene and Daniel received the answer to his prayer.

Verses 18-20: “ Then there came again and touched me one like the appearance of a man,  and he strengthened me,

And said, O man greatly  beloved fear not: peace  be unto thee,  be strong, yea, be strong.  And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said, Let  my lord speak; for thou has strengthened  me.

The said he, Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee?  and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia: and when I am gone forth, lo, the prince of Grecia shall come”.

Brethren, whatever you are going through now, didn’t start with you.   What is sure is that God is able to fight for you and give you victory provided you are on the Lord’s side.

Note that the angel told Daniel not to fear and be strong.

Challenges can be overwhelming especially if the solution is not within one’s control but one must conquer fear.  With fear, challenges fester but once fear is conquered, one is on the way to the end of that challenge.

Brethren, as you make up your mind to conquer fear, take a decision to also lift up your faith.

When going through challenges, a lot of unpleasant situations could creep into one’s life.

Do not allow such disappointment to shift your focus from the Lord.

Sometimes, prayer isn’t enough.  You need to take a step of faith.

A woman waiting on the Lord for children could go shopping for new baby clothes  and begin to pray with the items. She should begin to tell the LORD in prayer that she wants her child from her own body to wear the items.

For the single lady,  she could purchase an item that could be used for wedding and begin to pray with them.

It may seem foolish to others but to the Almighty God, by demonstrating such faith, the answer would come in a manner that would surprise her.

An example of the demonstration of faith is found in Matthew 9 vs. 20-22: “ And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve  years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment:

For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.

But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole.  And the woman was made whole from that hour”.

The lesson for us here is that the woman decided to take a step of faith.  She made up her mind and focused on the step she planned to take.   She brushed aside the crowd and touched the garment  of Jesus.

Taking a step of faith   makes us get the attention of God.

Immediately, the challenge of 12 years, came to an end.

Here was a woman who had almost given up, but she didn’t allow the challenge to bring her faith down. She rose in faith above the challenge and got victory.

You can also take similar steps.

A few weeks ago, a couple, called barren for 13 years, gave birth to a set of triplets, two boys and a girl.

What if they had decided to pack up the marriage because of the long years of delay?

They would have missed the miracle.

Brethren, no matter how long you have been waiting, do not give up.  Prepare for the miracle almost on a daily basis.

The Bible tells  the barren to prepare for  children  in Isaiah 54 vs. 2&3:

“Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains  of thine habitations: spare not,  lengthen  thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes:

For thou shalt break forth on the right and on the left; and thy seed shall inherit  the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited”.

This is an assurance that your babies are coming. Go on and prepare for them.

It is well in Jesus name.
