SheCan Nigeria empowers over 300 women in Lagos

SheCan Nigeria, a Non Governmental Organisation has empowered over 300 women in Sura community in Lagos, demonstrating its dedication in helping women realize their potential and enhance their capabilities.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony for participants held at the Lagos State City Centre, Sura-Lagos, Mercy Elegbe, Head NGO, Human Resources and Crisis Management at The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (SPDC) expressed the company’s dedication to impacting the lives of women in Nigeria. She added that supporting the Skill Acquisition Project is a way for them to give back to the community where they operate.

Elegbe encouraged the graduates to take advantage of the opportunity given to them to go all out to be the best they can be with all the skills they have acquired.

Referring to SheCan’s team song, “she can do anything because she dares,” she charged them to keep on daring snd keep on winning.

Also, Folashade Moyo-Falaye, Ethics & Compliance Manager at SPDC stressed the importance of honesty, integrity, respect for people, and respect for the law as core values that the graduates must uphold to sustain their businesses and justify SPDC’s investment in their training.
“Walk away for here for being an advocate of honesty, integrity, respect for people and respect for the law of the nation. “Never let anyone see you different from the way you can see, view, and value yourself.” She admonished.
Moyo-Falaye congratulated the founder and convener of the Skill Acquisition program, Ezinne Ezeani and her team, highlighting the impact of SheCan Nigeria’s values on the nation and expressing pride in partnering with the organization.
Earlier in her welcome address, the founder and converner of the project SheCan Nigeria, Ezinne Ezeani Commended the graduates that they were all dedicated and committed to the course despite the tight curriculum.

She however encouraged them to make themselves visible, continue learning, and invest in their businesses to make a success story, which will encourage their partners to want to extend the same opportunity to other women who need them.
Grant winners who emerged from the training were given 100k each with startup equipment for their businesses.
