Ex-NDDC Administrator, Udom bags ICAN award of excellence in A’Ibom

FORMER Interim Administrator of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC Dr Effiong Akwa and the immediate past governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel have been conferred with award of excellence for outstanding services by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Uyo and District Society.

Other awardees in the members’ category include  Commissioner for Finance in Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Nsikan Linus Nkan; Magnus Nnaemeka Chukwuekezie; Mr. Okokon Okpodighi; Rev. Ededet Ette, Mrs. Victoria Ibanga; Mr. Sunday Nathan Ekpo.

Those in the non members’ category were Archbishop Senator Helen Esuene; Sir Okon Okon; Obong Engr. Oliver Okon Ebong and Dr. Andy Samuel Eyo.

This was contained in statement issued by the press directorate of the former NDDC Interim Administrator made available to newsmen not on Tuesday in Uyo.

Speaking during the event which was held in Uyo on Saturday, Dr Akwa narrated how his accounting experience greatly aided the NDDC in conserving available funds accruing to agency for execution of projects.

 “During my tenure as the Interim Administrator of the Niger Delta Development Commission, i was able to use my accounting experience to utilize the available funds that accrued to the intervention agency.

“Many projects were executed during my time most of which never received the attention of past leaders” Akwa said.

According to the statement the ex-NDDC boss appreciated the leadership of ICAN for the award, stressing that it was a testament that his little contributions to the institute were noted.

He pledged his readiness to always support the body whenever the need arises in future.

Chairman of the occasion, Senator Effiong Bob said he was proud to identify with ICAN, describing it as a profession that has lived up to expectations in the country

Bob, however appealed to the body to continue to uphold its high standard within the institute

The chairman of  ICAN  Uyo District Society, Elder Udo Sam Umoatan, thanked the awardees for being exceptional in their supports to the development of the district, adding that, “those that were not recognized will be honoured in future’
