Claim your blessings, by Funmi Komolafe

Insecurity

Gradually, the year 2024 is moving on.  May the Lord keep us beyond 2024 in Jesus name.

Brethren, the Lord has unlimited blessings for us provided we meet the conditions.

The first assurance that we have of the Lord’s blessings is found in Genesis 1vs. 28 ( KJV): ” And God blessed them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth”.

The Lord gave a command that we should be fruitful.   He commanded that we should go and have children. This is one of the reasons He created man and woman. Do you know that God could have created more human beings without making Adam sleep with Eve?  God wanted and still wants us to enjoy each other’s company in a marriage and to go through the process of childbearing which should make us appreciate our Creator more.

Though blessings are available for all aspects of life, we need to ask to receive it.   Even at that, not all that ask receive.

You may say but the Lord Jesus said, “Ask and you shall receive”.

Matthew 7 vs. 7: ” Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened”.

However, it is not all that ask that receive.  Why? The answer is found in  Romans  6 vs. 1&2:  “What shall we say then?  Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein”.

God forbids we thrive in sin and expect to be blessed.

Brethren until you say to yourself that it is your turn to be blessed and work towards it, you may not possess your blessings.

A good example of a firm decision to possess the blessings that God has for you is found in the story of Jacob’s encounter with an angel as recorded in Genesis 32 vs. 24-28:

It states: ” And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.

And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.

And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me. And he said, unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.

And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed”.

This story tells us about a man who was determined to be blessed.  At this time, Jacob had children but he wanted all round blessings and he got it.

Brethren, God does not want his children to stagnate.

It simply means it doesn’t matter the level you are now, it could still be better.

You are not supposed to remain in a position for years.  Either at work, in your studies, in your marital life, or even financially.

There is enough space for you to move up but the decision to move up is yours.

If you are comfortable with your position, it’s what you want but there is room for progress.

Brethren for us to access our blessings some things have to change in the life of the individual.

On the other hand, God would have to make some changes for you to have a breakthrough and this may not be instant. God decides how he wants it to be.

What do I mean?  You might have been on a particular fertility pill for some time and no result has been seen.

This should simply tell you that unless God breathes life into you, conception might not be achieved.

Therefore,  in whichever area you wish to be blessed, you need to turn to God and turn away from whatever he forbids.

Beloved, you need to turn to Jesus. All blessings come from God either using other human beings to help or God acting on your behalf directly.

A woman gave a testimony of about 20 miscarriages in three years.    Her pain is better imagined.   In a situation like that, if God does not intervene, no human being can help her.

Are you faced with a situation that seems there is no solution?   Turn to God, ask for his mercy, and tell him it is your turn to have a miracle.

You need to understand that a person who needs a unique blessing must continuously ask for the blessing.

A couple that wants to have biological children must stay together in love and be united in prayer.

Isaac was a man whose faith worked for his wife.

Genesis 25 vs. 21: ” Isaac prayed to the LORD on behalf of his wife, because she was barren; and the LORD answered him and Rebekah is wife conceived”.

Isaac did not turn to the side chick.  He stayed with his wife and made up his mind that his children would come from her.

Brethren, this is what God expects of  Christian couples.

However, the truth is that many men are impatient when faced with situations like this.

When such a situation arises, the woman is expected to be more prayerful and patient.

It is not the time to pick up quarrels or take ungodly steps.

Remember Abraham also experienced the pain of barrenness.

Genesis 15 vs. 2-4: ” And Abram said, LORD God, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus?

And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir.

And, behold, the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,  this shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir”.

Are you still in doubt that God wants his children to bear children?

The LORD made this statement to cool the nerves of a worried Abram.

Men feel the pains of barrenness too.  Women should perish the thought that only women feel the pain.  However,  many men are not as patient as women.

May God give us the grace to confront challenges with prayer.

While we play our part in prayer and maintain a closer relationship with God, the Lord said in Ezekiel 21 vs. 27: ” I will overturn, overturn, overturn it: and it shall be no more, until he comes whose right it is; and I will give it him”.

God is simply telling us that some things must change before we possess our possession.

In other words, the situation may not change immediately.   Note the use of the word, overturn, and three times.  God knows what belongs to you and is ever ready to give to you but you must patiently wait in prayer.

Hannah waited patiently and she got her miracle.

A man shared a testimony of getting the job he desired after 14 years of waiting.

If he had stopped praying, if he had stopped taking the necessary steps,  he would never give the testimony.

Psalm 113 vs. 7-9 tells us about the awesome powers of the Almighty God.

” He raiseth  up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth the needy  out of the dunghill;

That he may set him with princes, even with the princes of his people.

He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children”.

These words confirm that God does not want us to be weighed down by the challenges of life.

God is able to change every unpleasant situation to a pleasant one.

Claim your right in the LORD prayerfully.

God is able!
