Award-winning Nigerian music producer Temitayo Ibitoye, widely known as Tee-Y Mix, is set to captivate audiences once again with his latest creative endeavor, the ‘Road Trip’ EP, featuring the talented artist Beekay.
Scheduled for release on March 14, 2024, across all major digital platforms, ‘Road Trip’ represents Tee-Y Mix’s latest venture as an artist, firmly establishing him among Nigeria’s elite producers with a distinct body of work.
The six-track EP promises a melodic journey through tracks like ‘Heaven on Alarm,’ ‘Nothing,’ ‘Black Arrow’ featuring Raybekah, ‘Mind, Body, and Spiritually,’ each showcasing Tee-Y Mix’s signature production finesse intertwined with Beekay’s mesmerizing vocals. The synergy echoes the creative spark reminiscent of Tee-Y Mix’s groundbreaking collaboration with Naeto C back in 2008, an era-defining moment that resonated both locally and internationally.
Reflecting on the genesis of ‘Road Trip,’ Tee-Y Mix shares, “The EP began as a creative experiment between Beekay and myself. Our initial aim was to create a vibe together, but it quickly evolved into something uniquely compelling.” Their synergy was forged during a previous corporate project collaboration, where they discovered a shared creative chemistry that laid the foundation for this collaboration.
Delving into the thematic richness of the EP, Tee-Y Mix reveals, “‘Heaven On Alarm’ reflects my experiences growing up in Abuja, where the city’s ambiance deeply influenced my musical journey before I moved to Lagos. For me, it was about nurturing creativity and staying true to the craft.” Songs like ‘Mind’ explore themes of love, while ‘Nothing’ delves into the complexities of loyalty and devotion.
When asked about the timing of the release, Tee-Y Mix emphasizes, “There’s never a perfect time for anything. I’m driven by the excitement and passion this project ignites within me—I want to share that energy with the world.”
As a multifaceted talent in the industry, Tee-Y Mix has not only made a mark as a music producer but also as a songwriter, sound designer, music arranger, and vocal coach. His contributions have been instrumental in shaping the Afrobeat wave that has swept across the globe, solidifying his status as a pivotal figure in Nigerian music.
Tee-Y Mix first gained prominence with Naeto C’s breakthrough album, ‘U Know My “P”,’ a milestone that showcased his distinctive sound and paved the way for future successes.
