Electronic Media Con-tent Owners Association of Nigeria, EMCOAN, has called on the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria, ARCON, to see how it could infuse media compliance or verification system into its new plan so as to save its members from losing a lot of money due to perpetual issues of compliance controversies.
EMCOAN made the call during the week, while being admitted into the sectorial body of ARCON in Lagos.

Speaking at the historic event, held the ARCON office in Iganumu, Lagos, the president of the association, Mrs. Jibe Ologeh, who’s also the MD/CEO of RWELL Media remarked that if the system had a way of carrying out compliance back check, it would reduce the ever–lingering cases of compliance issues in the advertising industry.
She added that as a professional body of content owners and producers of broadcast content in Nigeria, EMCOAN has been at the forefront of ensuring that contents being distributed on Televisions and Radio stations are in line with ethical standards as set by ARCON and NBC.
“We have also been professional in the production of advertising jingles and TV commercials whenever we are contracted to do so.
‘This professional conduct was recently appreciated by ARCON when one of our members – the Rwells Media was given an award for always ensuring compliance with codes of advertising ethics.
“We in EMCOAN will continue to support all the innovative leadership style of the indefatigable DG who in a very short time has brought in a breath of freshness to the advertising profession in Nigeria,” she said.
Responding, Dr Olalekan Fadolapo, the Director General of ARCON, urged EMCOAN executive council to endeavour to come up with a standard practice that would guide the association.
According to him, ARCON will only give it legal backing, since it cannot make laws for the association.
Present at the event were representatives of BoT members of EMCOAN including High Chief Emeka Ossai and Agatha Amata and other members of EMCOAN executive council,
