
Election officials arrived early for the House of Representative re-run election in Dandi/Arewa Federal Constituency in Kebbi, and voters turned out impressively for the exercise.
Accreditations and voting took place simultaneously in line with the guidelines issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In Kamba, Dandi Local Government Area, election officials arrived at Geza Primary Healthcare Polling Unit before 8:30 a.m. with the necessary voting materials, but to find large numbers of voters.
The INEC Presiding Officer at Geza PHC Polling Unit in Kamba area, Mustapha Shuaibu, said they arrived before 8:30 a.m. and they met voters waiting for them.
“You can see yourself that the turnout is even more impressive than the general elections.
“People are eager and willing to fulfill their constitutional responsibilities and also complete the process of electing their representative in the re-run,” he said.
He said there had not been any hitch with the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BIVAS), and voters had been behaving orderly.
At Kyangakwai Primary ‘B’ 007 polling unit in Kamba area, voters lined up to vote.
The officials of INEC arrived at 7:30 a.m. at Zango Nizzamiya Primary School 009 Polling Unit in Kagiwa town of Arewa Local Government Area, where the re-run election is ongoing as accreditation and voting commenced at 8:30 a.m.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the rerun election is holding in 25 polling units of Arewa/Dandi Federal Constituency in compliance with court judgment.
