… we’re operational, will be opened within the week after cleaning

By Ike Uchechukwu CALABAR

There was pandemonium Saturday night following a  fire outbreak which gutted part of Kada Cinema( studio 4) , a facility situated inside Marina Resorts , Calabar , the Cross River state capital.

Vanguard gathered that the fire which was caused by electrical surge only destroyed one of the studios and not the entire facility as it’s  been portrayed on various social media platforms.

In a statement signed by the Managing Director , Cross River Tourism Bureau, (CRTB), Mr Ojoi Ekpenyong and  made available to Vanguard on Sunday explained that only studio 4 was partly damaged and not the entire Cinema.

His words :” Our attention has been drawn to news making the rounds in some Social Media platforms purporting that the Kada Cinemas Calabar has been completely burnt down following a fire outbreak in one of its studios.

“There was a fire outbreak in one of the studios due to electrical surge on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at about 10:20pm.

“The fire incident was contained in Studio 4 where the flames broke out and did not impact on other areas.

“We, therefore, wish to put it on record that the Kada Cinemas is NOT BURNT DOWN. All other sections: The VIP, Studios 1, 2 and 3 are not affected and are intact.

“Businesses at the complex including the Bistro, and ticketing areas are fully functional. However, once cleaning is completed, hopefully, later on , the cinema will be opened to movie lovers and fun seekers within the week.

“We call on the public to disregard the misinformation going on in Social Media regarding Kada Cinemas.

“We remain committed to serving you the best of entertainment and relaxation and seek your support and understanding in the present circumstances while we commend the EPZ fire fighters for their prompt intervention,” he stated.
