A gateway to testimony, by Funmi Komolafe

Insecurity

Congratulations once again, we are into the month of February and today in a number of churches its Thanksgiving Day.  By the Grace of God, we shall see the end of the year joyfully in Jesus name.

In our last edition, we shared ideas on the need to connect with the LORD.

Today’s let’s discuss, the benefits of our connection with God.

When we connect it with another human being, it means two persons with different levels of ideas come together and when they do, they get stronger and are able to achieve what one person alone cannot achieve.

Spiritually speaking, it is even more than that.

You are a visible person connecting to the invisible God, the creator of heaven and earth.

To connect, you need to believe that God exists.   Once you believe, you begin to see the need to connect.

Why do you really need to connect?

King David provided the answer in Psalm, 121 vs. 1&2 ( KJV) : “ I will lift up my eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.

My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth”.

Have  you ever  asked yourself why a man who killed  the dreaded Goliath would ask where his help would come from?  It’s simply because he knew that it wasn’t the stones that killed Goliath but the  invisible power  in the stones.

That invisible power is available to every true believer in the Lord if only you believe and connect with God’s power.

Brethren, even if you do not have challenges that you cannot handle, you still  need the power of God to propel you in life.

Adam didn’t have challenges when the God gave him a physical helper.

Genesis 2 vs. 18 : And the LOD God said, it is not good that the man should  be alone; I will make him an  help meet for him”.

Note that  God’s  initial idea was  Adam to have a companion.  It was not for procreation.

God didn’t need to create Eve for Adam to populate the earth.  God could have simply created more human beings like Adam but he wanted Adam to have a companion.

This should be the emphasis in marriage.

Therefore couples  with childbearing challenges need not see themselves as failed couples.

Back to the issue of our connection with  the LORD..

What many of us do not know is that people that we see as  having  the best of life  , are connected to the Most High God.  They usually do not flaunt it but they are engaged in things that are pleasing to the LORD.

How do I know?

Psalm 1 vs. 1&2 attests to this. “ Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night”.

If you meditate on the law, you will walk in the way of the Lord because you will   be familiar with his dos and don’ts .  As we do this, the Holy Bible tells us that “ Blessed”. is such a person.

The one who is  blessed  would  find the journey of life smooth and easy, he would be at peace with himself he would have no worries.

Brethren, your connection with God is your connection with the power of the LORD.   That power has the capacity to reverse the irreversible. It has the power to move one from the state of despair to a state of hope and celebration.

It is the power of the Almighty God.

Jesus told us in Mathew 19 vs. 26: “ But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them,  With men  this is impossible; but with God all things are possible”.

God the Father,  first made this point in Jeremiah 32 vs. 27: “ Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?”

God asked the question but only a believer can answer in the positive.

Brethren now you know that  many things are impossible with men but with God ALL things are possible.

You  were  not created to be confined to the sick bed.  No.   You were created to be healthy.

God gave you this assurance in 3rd John vs. 2: “ Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest  prosper and be in health even as thy soul prospereth”.

So God want’s you to enjoy all round prosperity in health, materially, in your child bearing life and other areas of life but you need to ensure that your  soul prospers  too.

How can  the soul prosper you may want to ask?  The study of the word of God, hearing the Word,  your service  to the Lord are some of the steps you may take to prosper your soul.

Brethren the person that wants to be connected with the LORD needs to be humble. You need to place aside the knowledge you have acquired when dealing with God.  Why? Simple because the Bible tells us in Isaiah 55 vs. 8&9: “ For my thoughts are not  your thoughts , neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.

For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways  higher than your ways, and my thoughts than you thoughts”.

Brethren let me share with you the testimony of a medical doctor who was childless.  She got married but couldn’t   conceive so the marriage began to have challenges.

She was worried about the challenges but remained focused  on her desire to  have children .  She had become a subject   of mockery with people saying she had aborted  several times  and all such statements that the mockers had no proof of.

The lady kept praying and some how she read a copy of  Joyful homes Sunday Vanguard  and she started coming from her base to Lagos to attend church services in Laughter Foundation International Ministry.

She knew that if science alone could help her, she could have been bearing children .

In other words, she knew that science was limited but God is unlimited.

Within a short while,  God had  visited her .  She conceived and travelled to the United States of America to deliver a set to twin boys.

The lesson here is that the lady humbled herself.  She put on hold her knowledge of medical science that didn’t  help her achieve pregnancy.

She  chose to connect  with God and the Lord connected with her.

The result was that the power of God made her to conceive and the person that was mocked for not having a child  had a set of twins, two boys.

This year, may God give you a miracle  that would shut the mouth of your enemies in Jesus name.

As seen in this lady’s story, humility is  one of the gateways to the  Lord’s miracle.

James 4 vs. 8 & 10 : “ Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

Humble yourselves in the sight  of the Lord, and he shall lift  you up”.

The lady medical doctor humbled herself and got lifted up.

Brethren, make  up your mind to connect with the gateway to your testimony, which is the power of the Most High God. With  it, ANY challenge would give way.

This year as you humble yourself and continue to serve the LORD,  you would testify to his glory in Jesus name.

Our God that blessed Sarah, Hannah and Rachel with children is still on the throne.

He still listens to the cry of the barren and makes them joyful mothers.

Shalom!
