A total of 41 out of 9,172 graduating students of the University of Abuja will bag First Class at its 28th convocation ceremony slated for Saturday, February 17,2024.

The institution’s Vice Chancellor,Prof. Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah, disclosed this, Thursday, in Abuja, during a pre-convocation briefing.

The Vice Chancellor explained that in all,the regular programme would produce 6,237 graduands,while Centre for Distance Leaning and Continuing Education programme will churn out 971 graduates. On the other hand, the Institute of Education is graduating 688 graduands.

Giving further breakdown on the number of graduating students,Prof. Na’Allah explained that 7,896 are graduating from undergraduate programmes. Similarly,he said a total of 1,276 students will be graduating from post-graduate school.

He said:”Out of all the undergraduate students, First Class is 41;Second Class Honours (Upper Division) 1,845; Second Class Honours (Lower Division) 4,842; Third Class Degree 1,075; Pass Degree 50, MBBS 43, Ph.D 151; Masters Degree including professional Masters 742 and post-graduate Diploma 383.”

“The total number of graduands is 9,172. The regular programme is producing 6,237, Centre for Distance Leaning and Continuing Education is producing 971 and the Institute of Education also has 688,”he added.

Highlighting the achievements of the institution,Prof. Na’Allah said while four new facilities have been established, Mass Communication has been unbundled into seven different departments.

The vice chancellor disclosed that the Central Bank of Nigeria,CBN,has granted approval for the take-off of the university’s micro-finance bank.
