A technology startup, Data @nalytics Elites Global Ltd, is set to virtually train Nigerians in data analytics skills.

This technology skill is aimed at exposing millions of Nigerians to expertise in technical and leadership skills needed to thrive in the data analytics industry.

The founder of the firm, Iremide Olatunji, through a communique issued yesterday , stated that the essence of the training − which will commence on January 14th − is to mentor aspiring data professionals who want to gain mastery in data analytics tools and technologies such as Excel, Power BI, Tableau, SQL, and Python.

“We are advocating the need for data literacy because we recognise it as a fundamental skillset that empowers individuals and businesses to make data-driven decisions,” Olatunji said.

She stated that the training, which will be held virtually on Google Meet, is meant for everyone − CEOs, senior managers, marketing/sales professionals, entrepreneurs/business owners, students, or youths.

She added that the basic skills needed for the training, aside from the willingness to learn, are basic mathematical principles such as BODMAS, access to a laptop or a computer, and the internet.

According to her, the courses or modules for the training will be in three phases: beginner phase (four weeks duration) Microsoft Excel for data analysis will be taught; intermediate phase (eight weeks duration) Microsoft Power BI or Tableau will be taught; and advanced phase (eight weeks duration): SQL and Python will be taught.

Explaining how the training will help the beneficiaries, Olatunji noted that there are 2.5 quintillion bytes of data created each day on the internet, social media, and communication devices, and that there are high demands for these data to be analysed to help businesses, governments and individuals make smart choices and decisions.

“There are about three million jobs on LinkedIn demanding the service of data analysts. Due to this demand, there is a need to train people on the technologies used to analyse data,” she said.

She further said the best student in the training will be selected to work with their partner organisation as a data analyst intern for three months.

“They are in a community where they can easily get access to job opportunities that will help them start their career in data analytics,” she added.

Iremide Olatunji went on to explain that the training will also offer the beneficiaries access to mentorship by thought leaders in the data analytics field working for Flutterwave, Omnibiz, ARM, among others.
